A fun and easy way to introduce your kids to the joys of baking. Spectacularly simple, this delicious occasional treat can also double up as a sophisticated dinner party dessert. For a lower fat option use filo pastry.

Surprisingly low in fat, this delicious quick dessert will provide fibre and all the goodness of the bananas and milk.

Serves: 4

Preparation time: 15 minutes

Cooking time: 15 minutes

Ingredients

4 ripe bananas, peeled

1 sheet puff pastry, cut into 2cm wide strips

2 tablespoons of raw sugar and ½ teaspoon cinnamon, mixed

3 tablespoons of skim milk, for glazing

Low fat ice cream to serve

Cooking Instructions

Preheat oven to 220ºC.

Wrap a strip of pastry firmly around the banana until it is fully covered. Repeat with the rest of the bananas. You may need more than one strip to cover each banana.

Brush each pastry wrapped banana with milk, then roll it in the cinnamon sugar mix. Place on a greased baking tray. Bake for 10 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool slightly, then serve warm with low fat ice cream or reduced-fat cream.
